Although a sirloin steak is great just cooked and served by itself with a few vegetables, it is also nice to get creative sometimes and branch out with a few different recipes.

1. Whiskey Marinated Steak 

Ingredients 

  • 1 ½ pounds sirloin steak 
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon of mustard
  • ¼ cup of whiskey, Jack Daniels is a great option 
  • 2 teaspoons of sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon of black pepper 
  • 2 tablespoons of butter 

Method

  1. Begin by scoring your beef with a knife, creating a diamond shaped pattern. This will allow the flavors to seep into the meat. 
  2. Simply mix all of the other ingredients in a small bowl to create your marinade. 
  3. Pour this mixture onto your steak and rub it a little to make sure all of it is coated. 
  4. Seal the bag, and refrigerate overnight. 
  5. Cook your steak either on a household grill, or on a barbecue grill to get the most out of the flavors. 
  6. Remove and serve. 

2. Steak Au Poivre 

Ingredients 

  • 4oz sirloin steak 
  • 1 tablespoon of thickly ground peppercorns
  • 2 tablespoons oil 
  • A little salt to add flavor 
  • 4 Tablespoons of butter
  • ½ cup of brandy
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Method

  1. Begin by letting your steaks rest at room temperature, this will help to make them more tender. 
  2. Crush your peppercorns thoroughly with your mortar and pestle. If you do not have these, you can simply crush lots of pepper from your grinder. 
  3. Season your steaks with the peppercorns and the salt. 
  4. Heat your pan and place the butter on there. 
  5. Brown your steaks until they are cooked to your liking and then set aside. 
  6. To all of the fat that has accumulated in the pan, add your brandy. 
  7. Let the mixture cool a little, then add your cream, so that it doesn’t separate. 
  8. Finally, pour the mixture over your steaks, and serve. 

3. Steak Fajita Rolls 

Ingredients 

  • 1lb sirloin steak, sliced thinly and cut into 1×3 strips 
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 large bell peppers
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 2-3 smaller green onions
  • Fresh parsley

The Mix 

  • 1 tsp chili powder 
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin 
  • ½ tsp sea salt 
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper 

Method

  1. In a small bowl mix together all of the seasonings listed above. 
  2. Heat your oil over a medium to high heat, then add in the bell peppers, onions and season with some of the mixture you’ve prepared. 
  3. Stir frequently, then remove and set aside. 
  4. Sprinkle your steak cuts with the remainder of the seasoning, plus the peppers and onions you’ve just cooked.

Ingredients 

  • 1.5 pounds of sirloin (cut them into small pieces)
  • 1 tablespoons oil
  • Pepper and salt
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley

Method

  1. Add your olive oil to a hot pan, and then add the steak gradually, cooking in batches. Sprinkle them with salt and pepper. 
  2. Reduce the heat to a lower simmer and melt the butter along with your minced garlic.

  • 1 Tablespoon oil 
  • 2 pounds sirloin steak

  1. Heat your oil in a large pan, and season your steak with salt and pepper. Cook it to your liking.

  • 1 lbs sirloin steak

  • ¼ red vinegar

  1. Soak your skewers in water before starting. 
  2. Cut the sirloin steak into strips, then pound until they are thin. Place the meat on the skewers

  • 15 oz sirloin steak

  • 1 onion

  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

  1. Heat the oil in a pan on a higher heat, then add in your onion. Cook this until it reaches a golden brown color. After this, set the onion aside.
  2. Put the salt and pepper all over the steak and cook in the juices from the onion. Brown it until it is to your liking. 
  3. Put the onions back into the pan, and then add a little water. After this, add in the worcestershire sauce and sugar. Cook all of the ingredients until the added water evaporates.

Ingredients

  • 4 cuts of sirloin steak
  • 4 cups of mixed green salad leaves
  • 2 very large mangod, cut up into smaller chunks

  • Lime juice 
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 

Method 

  1. Preheat your grill to a high heat. 
  2. Season your steak thoroughly with salt and pepper.

  • 1 lb sirloin steak 
  • 2 cups of peas

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¾ cup beef stock made into a broth

  • ½ cup rice vinegar

  • 2 carrots

Method

  1. In a small bowl, combine the vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, salt and pepper. Stir these all together and then put them over the steak. 
  2. Leave the steak to marinade overnight, then grill it in a hot pan to your liking. 
  3. In a large pan, put some oil and then cook your carrots, followed by the broccoli and bell pepper. Add the summer squash and peas. 
  4. Pour over the beef broth. Add in the red pepper flakes.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of sirloin steak 
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 3 bell peppers
  • 1 onion 

Method 

  1. Chop up your steak whilst it is still raw, so that it is formed of several thick strips. 
  2. Mince your garlic in a bowl with some salt. 
  3. Marinade your steak with the garlic, along with the lime juice, cumin and olive oil. 
  4. Leave to marinade overnight. 
  5. Cook the steak on a high heat, along with the vegetables.

Tips For Cooking The Perfect Sirloin Steak 

  • Before cooking, make sure that when you remove the steaks from the refrigerator, that they have time to rest at room temperature. 
  • Always season your meat with salt and pepper before cooking.
  • Always preheat your pan so that it is sizzling hot before placing the steak on it. 
  • Don’t put too many steaks in the pan at once, as they won’t cook at the same time if it is overcrowded. 
  • Make sure that you put plenty of oil/butter in the pan to prevent the steak from sticking.
